Hi! I am Maria Colosimo, the creator, and founder of Kitchen Sink Stamps. Along with my husband Jim, we have owned and operated Kitchen Sink Stamps as a "home-spun" cottage business in sunny Los Angeles, California, since Sept. 2007. The only thing we don't do ourselves is the manufacturing of the stamps.
How did KSS start?
Kitchen Sink Stamps came to be out of endless hours scouring the web and local stamp & craft shops to find stamps that seemed to only exist in my mind. As a trained Graphic Designer, it was a natural progression to design my own stamps and teach myself how to produced photopolymer stamps (they were pink). These first stamps were created for my own use and I had no idea that it would lead to starting a company! But, when friends started requesting that I make them stamps too, that is when it hit me! I needed to share my stamps with fellow stampers & crafters everywhere!
How did KSS get its name?
When first producing my "homemade stamps" for my own personal use, the final stage was to rinse away the unexposed biodegradable photopolymer resign with water, leaving behind a raised area which is now a stamp. Where did I conduct this final stage of water rinsing... the biggest sink in our house, the kitchen! I since, I usually found myself stamping at the kitchen table with friends and family ... Kitchen Sink Stamps seemed like a fitting name! So, that is how Kitchen Sink Stamps got its name.
Once we started Kitchen Sink Stamps, our high-quality clear photopolymer stamps are manufactured in the USA by a leader in the industry.
We have been very proud to offer stampers around the world a variety of our original stamp designs, specializing in Multi-Step (layered) stamping in high-quality clear photopolymer and made in the USA.
Our unique multi-step stamps give a beautiful, three-dimensional-looking stamped image without having to do any hand coloring, like a traditional stamp. Each image has several "layer stamps" when stamped layered one on top of the other with various shades inks, leaves a final image full of depth and detail. We put a lot of thought into designing each of our stamp sets so that they are versatile so stampers can mix and match multiple sets together to the most out of their stamp and unlock their full artistic creativity.
It is very important to us that every one of our customers are happy & successful multi-step stamping with their Kitchen Sink Stamps. This is why we give our customers whatever support they need! We offer our customers free downloadable Color Recipes (available for most of our multi-step stamp sets) Stamp Alignment Guides, and Multi-Step Tutorials can be found on the KSS Blog.
